Key takeaways
- SE Ranking is an all-in-one SEO suite, not only a rank tracker. On 14 October 2026 its Core plan cost €109 a month on monthly billing, or €87.20 a month on annual billing, with 2,000 keywords and 100 AI prompts tracked daily, a site audit and research tools.
- A Rank Check Report does one job: a live Google check of up to 400 keywords on four Google engines, from $14.99 per check, with no subscription.
- One report a month for a year costs $179.88 for 100 keywords, against €1,046.40 to €1,308 for a year of SE Ranking Core.
- If you use SE Ranking’s audit and research tools every month, the suite is the better buy. If you only open it to export rankings, a report does that job for a fraction of the price.
If you are looking for an SE Ranking alternative, start by listing what you actually use it for. SE Ranking is not just a rank tracker. Its Core plan bundles daily rank tracking with a website audit, keyword, competitor and backlink research, and AI prompt tracking. If you use most of that, it is good value and you should probably keep it. If you log in once a month to export rankings for a report, you are paying for a full suite to do one job, and a keyword rank checker you pay for per report is the alternative this comparison puts next to it.
A disclosure before the numbers: I run onwardSEO, which sells pay-per-check Google rank reports, so read this as a vendor’s comparison. Every SE Ranking price and feature below was read on seranking.com on 14 October 2026 and is shown in the screenshots. Where the screenshots don’t show something, I say so instead of guessing.
The short answer: SE Ranking or a rank check report?
| If you need… | The better fit |
|---|---|
| A site audit, keyword research and backlink research as well as rankings | SE Ranking |
| Rankings updated every day for up to 2,000 keywords | SE Ranking |
| Search engines other than Google, or AI prompt tracking | SE Ranking |
| One Google ranking report a month or a quarter | Rank check report |
| A branded report to forward to a client | Rank check report |
| A before-and-after check around a launch or migration | Rank check report |
| No subscription, no account and no project setup | Rank check report |
The two overlap on one thing only: Google rankings. Most of what SE Ranking sells is outside what a Rank Check Report does, and the report is a finished document, not software.
SE Ranking pricing on 14 October 2026
SE Ranking’s pricing page showed two plans, with a switch between monthly and annual billing:
- Core, described as “SEO + GEO for marketing teams with repeatable delivery”: €109.00 a month on monthly billing, €87.20 a month on annual billing. It includes 10 projects and 1 manager seat, 2,000 keywords and 100 prompts tracked daily, 5 domains in GEO research, 250,000 pages a month in the audit, and 25,000 API credits with MCP access.
- Growth, for multi-client work: €235.00 a month on monthly billing, €188.00 a month on annual billing, with 30 projects, 3 manager seats, and 5,000 keywords and 250 prompts tracked daily.
Under “What’s inside”, the Core card lists rank tracking across major search engines; unlimited keyword, competitor and backlink research; a website and on-page audit; and Data Studio, Matomo, GA and GSC integrations. Both plans start with a 14-day free trial with no credit card required. Annual billing is labelled “Save 20%”, and the page offers free migration with an annual subscription.
The page showed euros because I opened it from Romania. Prices and currency can differ by location, so check from your own country.
Is a rank check report a good SE Ranking alternative?
It depends on which parts of the suite you use. A Rank Check Report replaces one line of that pricing card: Google rankings. You send a keyword list, your website and your Google edition. We run a live check through a Google results API, with desktop and mobile as separate queries, and you get a web report, a PDF and an Excel file within one working day. Four Google engines are included: your Google edition on desktop and mobile, plus google.com on desktop and mobile.
It does not replace the audit, the keyword and backlink research, the AI prompt tracking or the integrations. If those are why you pay for SE Ranking, a report is a different product, not an alternative.
What the report adds is detail on each results page: the SERP features on it (18 types, from featured snippets to People also ask) and whether Google’s AI Overview cited or mentioned your site, for example “Cited #2 of 7”. The Core card lists 100 prompts tracked daily; a per-keyword AI Overview citation is not shown on it. Google says a page needs no special optimisation to appear as a supporting link in its AI features, only to be indexed and eligible to be shown with a snippet, so a per-keyword citation check shows where you are already cited and where you are not.
The cost of one report a month for a year
SE Ranking figures below are the euro prices from the screenshots; onwardSEO figures are our US dollar prices. I have not converted currencies: exchange rates move, and the gap is wide either way.
| Situation | SE Ranking Core | onwardSEO Rank Check Reports |
|---|---|---|
| 100 keywords, one report a month for 12 months | €1,308 (monthly billing) or €1,046.40 (annual billing) | $179.88 (12 × $14.99, top 30) |
| 200 keywords, top 60, one report a month for 12 months | €1,308 or €1,046.40 | $359.88 (12 × $29.99) |
| 400 keywords, top 60, one report a month for 12 months | €1,308 or €1,046.40 | $719.88 (12 × $59.99) |
| 200 keywords, top 30, one report a quarter | €436 if you subscribe only for the 4 months you need (4 × €109) | $99.96 (4 × $24.99) |
Two notes keep this fair. First, SE Ranking’s price buys the whole suite and daily updates, not one snapshot; if you use the audit and research tools, share the cost across them before you compare. Second, the 14-day free trial needs no credit card, so a one-off check that fits inside 14 days can cost nothing there. The useful “after” check of a migration usually comes weeks after launch, though, which is where a second paid report ($34.99 for 300 keywords) is simpler.
If the rankings export is the only screen you open, you are paying for a suite to do one job.
What you get with each
| SE Ranking Core | Rank Check Report | |
|---|---|---|
| How it is sold | Subscription, monthly or annual | Per check, prepaid |
| Smallest option on 14 Oct 2026 | €109 a month (monthly billing), 2,000 keywords | $14.99 per check, 100 keywords, top 30 |
| Rank updates | Daily | One live check per order |
| Search engines | Rank tracking across major search engines | Google only; 4 engines included |
| Other tools | Audit, keyword, competitor and backlink research, AI prompts, API and MCP | None: rankings only |
| What you receive | Access to the software: 10 projects, 1 manager seat | Web report, PDF and Excel file (Summary, Keywords, History) |
| SERP features and AI Overview | 100 AI prompts tracked daily; per-keyword AI Overview citation not shown on the card | 18 SERP feature types and AI Overview citations, in every report |
| Branding | Not shown on the pricing card | Your client’s logo and brand colour |
| Commitment | Monthly or annual plan; 14-day free trial | None |
A Rank Check Report has no search volume, no keyword suggestions and no competitor lists. It reports your own keywords on your own Google, nothing more.
When SE Ranking is the better choice
Pick SE Ranking if any of these is true:
- You use the suite. If you run site audits, research keywords and check backlinks every month, one subscription that covers all of it can cost less than separate tools, and the rank tracking comes with it.
- You need daily data on a large list. Core tracks 2,000 keywords daily and Growth 5,000. A per-check report is priced for lists of up to 400 keywords; we quote anything larger.
- You need more than Google. The Core card lists rank tracking across major search engines. A Rank Check Report covers Google web search only.
- You report on AI prompts. If your brand’s visibility in AI answers is part of your reporting, prompt tracking is something a report does not do.
- Your team works inside the tool. Projects, seats and integrations (Data Studio, Matomo, GA, GSC) suit people who live in the data.
When a rank check report is the better choice
Pick a per-check report if your rankings drive a monthly or occasional decision:
- You already have research and audit tools, or you don’t need them, and only want a Google ranking report.
- Monthly or quarterly reporting. Google’s guide to debugging traffic drops notes that small fluctuations in position can happen at any time, and suggests comparing longer periods, such as the last three months year over year. A monthly check fits that rhythm.
- Client reports. Your client’s logo and brand colour on a web report and a PDF, with no tool login to share. If you report for several clients, our guide to white label rank tracking compares branded subscriptions with branded one-off reports.
- One-off moments: a pitch, an audit, a redesign, a migration or a Google update. You pay for that check and nothing after it.
- Small lists. Up to 400 keywords, priced by tier (157 keywords are priced as 200), with four Google engines included.
If price is the main question, our comparison of the cheapest rank tracker options puts twelve tools side by side for the same job: one report a month.
How to decide, and how to switch
- Look at what your team opened in SE Ranking last month. If it was mostly rankings, a report covers your use.
- Before your plan ends, export current positions for the keywords that matter. That is your baseline.
- Order a check with the same keywords and the same Google edition you used in SE Ranking. The report always covers desktop and mobile.
- Expect small differences in the first report. Different tools fetch results at different times, so compare direction, not single positions.
- From your second order, the report compares every keyword with your previous check and builds the trend line.
The first report shows “first run” instead of changes, because there is no earlier check to compare with yet. If you would rather have someone read the report every month and turn it into actions, that is what our SEO rank tracking service does.
FAQ
Is this a full SE Ranking review?
No. It compares only the part of SE Ranking that overlaps with a Rank Check Report: Google rankings. I have not assessed the audit, research or AI tools here, so judge those on their own if you need them.
How much does SE Ranking cost?
On 14 October 2026, viewed from Romania, Core cost €109 a month on monthly billing or €87.20 a month on annual billing, and Growth cost €235 or €188. The page showed euros because of where I opened it, and prices can differ by location. Rank Check Reports are priced in US dollars, with VAT added at checkout where it applies.
Can I put my client’s logo on a rank check report?
Yes, at no extra cost. Upload a logo and a brand colour with the order, and the web report and PDF carry them. The Excel file holds the same figures as plain data.
Can I see a report before I order?
Yes. The public sample report shows an anonymised client project as the client receives it, and you can order the same one-off Google rank report for your own keyword list.
Get your Google rankings without paying for a suite: one report for up to 400 keywords on four Google engines, desktop and mobile, with SERP features and AI Overview citations.
