Key takeaways
- On 14 October 2026, the Pro Rank Tracker Starter plan cost $99 a month on monthly billing, or $89 a month on annual billing, for 1,000 tracked terms with daily top 100 updates.
- Pro Rank Tracker counts every device and location as a separate term: 100 keywords on desktop and mobile in two countries use 400 terms.
- A Rank Check Report is one live Google check per order, from $14.99 for 100 keywords on four Google engines, with no subscription.
- One report a month for a year at top 30 costs $179.88 (100 keywords) or $299.88 (200 keywords), against $1,068 to $1,188 for a year of Starter, all in US dollars.
- Pro Rank Tracker is the better buy for daily data, Google Maps positions, AI platforms beyond Google or lists over 400 keywords. A report is the better buy for monthly or occasional checks.
A Pro Rank Tracker alternative only makes sense once you know what you use Pro Rank Tracker for. It is a daily rank tracker: it rechecks your keywords every day and bills you for that capacity, month after month. If you open your rankings once a month, for a client report or your own review, most of what you pay for goes unread. For that pattern, a monthly rank tracking report you buy only when you need it is the alternative worth comparing.
A disclosure first: I run onwardSEO, and we sell one-off Google rank reports, so read this as a vendor’s comparison. Every Pro Rank Tracker price and feature below was read on its pricing page on 14 October 2026 and appears in the screenshots. Where a screenshot doesn’t show something, I don’t claim it.

What Pro Rank Tracker costs (read on 14 October 2026)
The Pro Rank Tracker Plans & Pricing page has a Monthly and Annually switch, with 10% off for annual billing. It showed four columns:
- Free Trial: 100 terms tracked daily for 7 days, with all premium features enabled and no credit card required.
- Starter, described as ideal for individuals and small businesses getting started with rank tracking: $99 a month on monthly billing, $89 a month on annual billing, for 1,000 terms. Its list: top 100 daily rank updates, local and mobile tracking, GBP Maps tracking, AI Overviews and AI Mode, AI platforms (LLMs), and unlimited URLs and projects.
- Pro: $149 a month, or $134 on annual billing, for 2,000 terms, adding Data Studio integration, a clients app and 10 users.
- Agency: $199 a month, or $179 on annual billing, for 3,000 terms, adding API access, update-on-demand and unlimited users.
The page showed US dollars when I opened it from Romania, the same currency as our prices, so nothing here needs converting. Pricing pages change and can differ by location, so check it yourself.
How Pro Rank Tracker counts tracked terms
The plans are sold in terms, not keywords, and the FAQ on the same page defines a term: one keyword, tracked for one URL, on one search engine. Each local combination (a different location) and each mobile combination counts as another term. The one exception it lists: organic desktop results and the “snack pack” for the same search count as one. AI tracking uses 2 terms per prompt.
In practice, 100 keywords checked on desktop and mobile in two countries are 100 × 2 × 2 = 400 terms. The Starter plan’s 1,000 terms cover 250 keywords at that setup, and the Pro plan’s 2,000 terms cover 500.
| Your setup | Terms used | Smallest plan that fits |
|---|---|---|
| 100 keywords, desktop and mobile, 2 countries | 400 | Starter, $99 a month |
| 200 keywords, same setup | 800 | Starter, $99 a month |
| 400 keywords, same setup | 1,600 | Pro, $149 a month |
A Rank Check Report counts each keyword once. Four Google engines are included in the price: your Google edition on desktop and mobile, plus google.com on desktop and mobile. That matches the keywords, devices and countries in the table. The depth does not match, which I come back to below the cost table.
The cost of one report a month for a year
Here is what four common situations cost over a year, from the screenshots and our own price list.
| Situation | Pro Rank Tracker | onwardSEO Rank Check Reports |
|---|---|---|
| 100 keywords, desktop and mobile in 2 countries, one report a month | Starter: $1,188 (monthly billing) or $1,068 (annual billing) | $179.88 (12 × $14.99, top 30) |
| 200 keywords, same setup, one report a month | Starter: $1,188 or $1,068 | $299.88 (12 × $24.99, top 30) |
| 400 keywords, same setup, one report a month | Pro: $1,788 (12 × $149) or $1,608 (12 × $134) | $539.88 (12 × $44.99, top 30) |
| 200 keywords, one report a quarter | $396 if you subscribe to Starter only for the 4 months you need | $99.96 (4 × $24.99) |
To keep this fair: Pro Rank Tracker gives you a fresh position every day, checked to the top 100, while a report gives one snapshot to the top 30 or 60. And subscribing only in the months you need means starting and cancelling a plan around every check.
Count how often you open your rankings before you count keywords. That number decides which product is cheaper.

A Rank Check Report has no dashboard, daily updates, alerts, search volume, keyword suggestions or competitor lists, and covers Google web search only.
On AI search the two answer different questions. Pro Rank Tracker lists AI Overviews, AI Mode and AI platforms. A Rank Check Report covers Google’s AI Overview only: for each keyword, whether one appeared and whether it cited or mentioned your site, for example “Cited #2 of 7”. Google’s guide to AI features and your website explains that these features link to supporting pages. If AI visibility is your main question, our comparison of AI Overview checker tools goes further.
When Pro Rank Tracker is the better choice
Pick Pro Rank Tracker, or another daily tracker, if any of these is true:
- Someone acts on rankings every day, catching problems the morning they appear.
- You need positions beyond the top 60. Starter checks the top 100 every day. A report stops at the depth you choose, 30 or 60.
- Your business lives in Google Maps. GBP Maps tracking is on the Starter card. A report records whether a local pack appears on the results page, but not your position inside it.
- You track AI platforms other than Google. A report covers Google’s AI Overview and nothing else.
- Your list is large or keeps growing. Past 400 keywords we quote per list; a subscription just moves you up a plan.
- You need a short list for one week. The free trial tracks 100 terms daily for 7 days, with no credit card. That covers 25 keywords on four engines, which may be all a quick check needs.
When a rank check report is the better choice
Pick a per-check report if your rankings feed a monthly or occasional decision:
- Monthly or quarterly reporting. Google’s guide to debugging Search traffic drops notes that small fluctuations in position can happen at any time. A monthly reading shows direction without reacting to every daily wobble.
- Client reports. Your client’s logo and brand colour on a web report and a PDF, with no tool login to share.
- Moments, not monitoring: a pitch, an audit, a redesign or a migration. You pay for the check and nothing after it.
- Lists of up to 400 keywords. Each order is priced by tier (157 keywords are priced as 200), with four Google engines included and no terms to count.
If price is your main concern, our roundup of the cheapest rank tracker options prices twelve tools for one report a month, including trackers that cost less than the Pro Rank Tracker Starter plan.
Choosing a Pro Rank Tracker alternative: how to decide and switch
- Count how often anyone opens your rankings. If the answer is daily or weekly, keep a tracker.
- Count your terms: keywords × devices × locations. Past 400 keywords on four engines, ask us for a quote or keep a tracker.
- Before your Pro Rank Tracker plan ends, note your current positions for the keywords that matter. That is your baseline.
- Order a Google rank check with the same keywords, Google editions and devices you tracked.
- Expect small differences in the first report. Tools fetch results at different moments, so compare direction, not single positions.
- From your second order, the report compares every keyword with your previous check and builds the trend line.
The first report shows “first run” instead of changes. If you would rather have someone read the report and turn it into actions every month, that is what our SEO rank tracking service does.

Does a rank check report show AI Overviews?
Yes, for Google. Every report shows whether an AI Overview appeared for each keyword and whether it cited or mentioned your site. It doesn’t cover AI Mode or other AI platforms.
